Touching the Essence

We all have habitual ways that we contract and shut down to avoid the feelings that challenge us – everything from love and joy to fear and helplessness.

Whether we get aggressive or defensive, pretend we don’t care or turn every opportunity into a drama….. at some level we know that we are protecting ourselves from something we’d rather not feel.

And yet the deepest intimacy, with both ourselves and others, happens when we allow these same feelings that we so desperately try to avoid.

Everything that is not allowed to be touched in us is a barrier to ease and intimacy because we always have to be armored to protect it from being touched.

As we allow ourselves to be touched physically and emotionally, we can begin to release ourselves from these self-destructive patterns and open to embrace more and more of our own feelings and being, finding a true friendliness with ourselves. From this place of intimacy with ourselves we naturally find deeper intimacy with others.

As we let go of the requirement that we never be hurt, rejected or disappointed and experience our own heart’s ability to feel, heal and embrace the fullness of life, we can relax into ease and safety knowing that we can be happy anyway.

This Art of Being® workshop is a safe and gentle journey of befriending all our inner experiences and feelings so that this can happen.

We will focus on :
  • developing our sensitivity to ourselves and what we are experiencing
  • allowing ourselves to be, and to be seen
  • developing love and acceptance for ourselves
  • allowing ourselves to touch and be touched
  • becoming aware of the ways we shut down
These practices and the meditations, guided processes, dance and sharing circles all contribute in learning HOW to open into the fullness our own unique being, through being touched physically, emotionally and, if we allow, to the heart and soul of our being.
The workshop is equally suitable for singles and couples.
